Tomorrow we are going down to the creek to see what is there.
We are hypothesizing what should be there.

- clean water
- healthy plants and trees
- lots of fish and insects living in the stream

What I expect to find:

-weeds
-mud
-fishies
-trees

Biodiversity latest work

Today we watched a 20 minute movie called the Guardian of the Mauri.

My immediate thoughts were that it would be pretty suffocating to be a fish at the moment where many of our streams are polluted.

What does Mauri mean? Life force, streams, rivers, nature.

What are the positive things about our streams and rivers? Some of them aren't polluted, but soon all of them will be if the streams carry on getting polluted.

What are the negative things about our streams and rivers? The rubbish, chemicals, paint, waste.

TERM TWO

Term two has started quickly and fast! We're doing disasters for our topic and for reading. And our group makes a another whole wikispace and have it all about disasters. Here is the link to it. It is called:

nzengrossingdisasters.wikispaces.com.

It's a brilliant name right? It's definitely not finished yet just so you know. But it will be! And it's going to be mind googling. That's a very weird word huh.

Biodiversity

I think it means: Variety of life, life forms, the ego system, and habitats of life.

Wonderings:
1: Is there a way to learn all about Biodiversity naturally, by ourselves and our discoveries?

Fresh Water Ecology

Lake Taupo is the la lake in New Zealand, as it has a big impact on the the land, plants and wildlife. It is the largest body of freshwater in Australasia. About 40 streams flow into Lake Taupo. Fresh water leaves Lake Taupo Waikato River.

There is only so much water on earth. It is needed for all living things and must be looked after.

Ecology is all living things. Living things die if their environment is damaged. There are many man-made things that can harm Freshwater Ecology, like changing waterways, towns and cities urbanisation, Nitrogen, and overfishing.

Getting rid of pest fish and plants is difficult. The only solution is to keep them out. Whenever you go into a new lake or river, always do the following:

-check for wet gear that has been used in water.
-clean all gear that has been used in water.
-dry all gear that has been used in water.

Because the gear could have weeds or fish eggs in it.

TERM ONE

PUBERTY

One of our Topics is Puberty. We are learning about the girls and boys puberty at the moment - well, just finishing the boys. Soon we will be getting right into our Mini Inquiry. To begin with that, we are finding our Big question. Seeing that it is only a Mini Inquiry - we only have one big question (no subsidiary) And it is private to ourselves and the teacher. We choose a question that we are interested in, and want to find out about, and make it into a small presentation. Here are the boys and girls puberty.
